The Future of Labradors
Farseer Labradors began nearly 20 years ago with a very special girl — Farseer Pretty Woman, affectionately known as Lotti.
Lotti was the foundation of Farseer, and from those early beginnings the kennel has developed and grown while remaining true to the qualities we value most in the Labrador: good health, soundness and temperament.
One of Lotti's offspring went on to appear at Crufts, a particularly proud moment in the early history of Farseer.
One of the strongest and most influential lines within Farseer today is Farseer Lan Lass, affectionately known as Saffi.
Saffi's line has produced numerous Labradors that have gone to working homes, including dogs competing in working tests and field trials.
We are particularly proud that the line has demonstrated that a Labrador can combine ability and sound breeding with the temperament and versatility to live happily as part of a family.
Although working ability is an important part of our breeding programme, the majority of Farseer puppies are destined simply to be much-loved family companions.
The health of our puppies begins with the health of their parents.
Our breeding girls, together with the boys they are carefully matched with, undergo extensive health testing. This includes hip and elbow scoring, eye examinations and a comprehensive range of DNA tests relevant to Labrador health.
We use these results, together with pedigree, temperament, conformation and ability, to make informed decisions about every mating.
Our aim is not simply to produce puppies — it is to continue breeding healthy, sound and happy Labradors for generations to come.
And narly 20 years on, our philosophy and principles remain much the same as they were when Lotti started it all.
We want our Labradors to be healthy, happy, fit for purpose and loved — whether their future is in the field, in competition, or curled up on the sofa as a treasured family pet.
We are proud of the dogs Farseer has produced over the years and, above all, of the wonderful homes they have become part of.
